Parking at the Metro
On Tuesday I met with Marge at the studio in D.C. I had a little trouble with parking that day and ended up feeding the quarter machine, aka meter, a hefty meal. That brings me to a point....Tip number one: When attempting to snag a parking spot at a Metro station plan on leaving your house early. For me this is about three hours early depending on the time of day. I actually only live about an hour away from the Vienna station. Tip number two: When said parking space is not available make sure you have a $10 roll of quarters for the hungry meters. (Four quarters is one hour) Tip number three: DO NOT attempt to get quarters from the machines in the metro station. You will only be disappointed with $1.00 coins...who actually uses these? Tip number four: When you don't have enough quarters for parking be sure to ask the tourists who are fighting with the metro card machines. They are the only ones who will exchange their precious quarters for your measly little dimes and nickles. If you are lucky that is. :-) Tip number five: Smile and shrug the stress off, remember you are interning at the Washington Post with a very talented photographer.
